The 2012-2013 school year is off to an amazing start! Students are setting in developing great relationships with their teachers and classmates with a smooth transition into the new year. A large factor in making the beginning of the year so successful has been our Willard Way Boot Camp. To help share our school-wide expectations for behavior, all classes traveled to different stations yesterday for training in the 3 R’s of being Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn. From the playground, to the restrooms, to the cafeteria and beyond, we shared our expectations to help keeps students and teachers accountable to help everyone learn and be successful. You can find a copy of our behavior expectation matrix below.
In addition to learning The Willard Way of being Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn, students were also introduced to our school-wide incentive program. When students get caught modeling the 3Rs, they have the chance to earn a Power Band loop to wear around their wrist showing their great behavior. When a class earns 50 Power Bands, they will receive a class celebration activity. To promote a healthy and active lifestyle, these activities will be team building games to offer students a “brain break” and allow them to get recharged and ready to learn again.
Take some time to ask your students about The Willard Way and to encourage them with ways they can carry the 3Rs over into life outside of school.
