It was an exciting and busy week at WC! We welcomed 30 members to our first PTO meeting of the year on Monday. On Wednesday, we kicked off our PTO fundraiser with Mr. Z’s. Look for a WC student to order some good food and Christmas items. Our PTO is off to a great start and we are looking forward to another successful year partnering with our parents and community.
On Friday, we officially kicked off the Willard Central Intelligence Agency with a visit from Agent P (a.k.a. Perry the Platypus from the hit Disney show Phineas and Ferb.) After some laughs and the challenge to make this the “best school year ever”, WC celebrated the students’ hard work from last year on the MAP test with a party. The festivities concluded with each student and staff member receiving their WC special agent shirts provided by our wonderful PTO and our all-school picture for the yearbook. A special thank you to our Superintendent, Dr. Medlin, for joining us for the assembly and helping us celebrate our MAP success and this new year!
It was a wonderful week that has inspired us for an unforgettable school year. As we look ahead to next week, please remember that we will not have school on Friday, September 24th. Teachers will be participating in professional development on this day. The WC staff will receive training on Brain Gym instructional strategies. These research and evidence based strategies will help teachers better activate the learning centers of the brain and make connections in student learning for greater retention of information.
